Four practice areas, one office off the town square, and the discretion this community expects.

Varghese Summersett has practiced out of Southlake since our grand opening here, from the Kirkwood Oaks Business Center on Sabre Drive. Four practice areas run out of this office: divorce, family law, criminal defense and personal injury. This page is the front door. Each practice has its own page with the detail you are actually looking for, and every one of them is linked below.
If you are not sure which one you need, call (817) 415-1575 and tell us what happened. We will tell you who should handle it and what the next step looks like, whether or not you hire us.
Divorce here often means dividing something more complicated than a house and two retirement accounts. A closely held business. Restricted stock and deferred compensation. A professional practice. Real estate held across several entities. Those cases turn on tracing, characterization and valuation long before they turn on argument, which is why we bring in forensic accountants and business valuation experts early rather than at mediation.
They also turn on discretion. We put this office off the town square on purpose, because in a community this size the reputational stakes are as real as the financial ones.
Custody, child support, modifications, enforcement, protective orders and adoption are handled by the same team, in the same building. Most of the family work that comes through this office involves parents who still have to co-parent after the case closes, so we push hard on the issues that matter and try not to manufacture fights that cost you money and cost your children stability.
Craig Jackson, who leads this office, is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and previously served as an associate judge, which means he has watched these cases from the bench as well as from counsel table.
A criminal accusation is not a conviction, and for most of the people who call this office the collateral damage arrives first: a professional license, a security clearance, an employer, a school. We defend state and federal charges, including DWI, assault and family violence, drug offenses, theft and white collar allegations. Several of our attorneys are former prosecutors, so we know how the other side builds a file before it is ever handed to us.
If someone else caused the wreck, the fall or the death in your family, the insurance company already has a team working on it. We handle car and truck collisions, premises cases and wrongful death claims on contingency, which means you pay nothing unless we recover. We do not settle a case before we know what the medical picture actually looks like.
Four things come up again and again when clients tell us why they picked this office over a firm in Fort Worth or Dallas.
It is close, and it is private. Two minutes off Highway 114 and FM 1709, with parking on site and a discreet entrance, so a consultation does not become a public event.
One firm, four practice areas. A divorce that turns up a criminal issue, or a car wreck in the middle of a custody case, does not mean starting over with a second firm and a second retainer.
Board certification and bench experience. Board certification in Texas requires substantial trial experience, peer review and a written examination. Fewer than three percent of Texas attorneys hold it in any specialty.
Someone answers. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, every day, because arrests and emergencies do not keep office hours.
Divorce and property division, family law including custody, support, modifications and adoption, criminal defense including DWI and federal charges, and personal injury including car accidents, truck accidents and wrongful death.
Southlake sits mostly in Tarrant County and extends into Denton County, so most cases from this office are filed in Tarrant County courts in Fort Worth, and some in Denton County courts in Denton. We appear in both regularly. Federal matters go to the Northern District of Texas.
No. We also have offices in Fort Worth, Dallas and Houston, and we handle consultations by phone and video when that is easier. Clients who want to meet in person usually pick Southlake because of the parking and the privacy.
It depends on the case. Criminal defense and family law are usually handled on a flat fee or hourly basis depending on the matter and how contested it is. Personal injury is handled on contingency, which means there is no fee unless we recover for you. We will give you the fee structure in the first conversation, before you commit to anything.
