Attorney Ty Stimpson Honored by State Bar of Texas for Leadership

Attorney Ty Stimpson, a partner at Varghese Summersett Injury Law Group, was recently honored by the State Bar of Texas for his yearlong role in LeadershipSBOT – a prominent program that recruits, trains, and retains lawyers for leadership positions in the legal community and beyond.

Stimpson was recognized on June 22 during the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting in Austin along with 19 other lawyers who were selected to represent the 2022-2023 LeadershipSBOT Class . Each year, the State Bar of Texas identifies leaders from across the state who are committed to serving their communities and the profession and reflect the diversity of the state.

“It was such an honor to serve in the 2022-2023 Leadership SBOT Class,” Stimpson said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from different practice areas and diverse cultural, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds. We were challenged to examine what is expected of leaders and discover how to best engage in public involvement and be effective in the community and in the profession. I look forward to continuing the conversations and connecting with new leaders in this program for years to come.”

Ty Stimpson honored by State Bar of TexasThroughout his yearlong tenure, Stimpson attended meetings with classmates from across Texas and collaborated to create a service project that he presented at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting.

This year’s service project focused on engaging with students from across the state to discuss various topics, including becoming first-generation attorneys and widening the pathway to the legal profession. The 2022-2023 SBOT Leadership Class presented to 656 students in the state, including 10 schools, 8 school districts, and 2 universities.

“Sharing our knowledge and experience with students, many of whom have never met or encountered a lawyer, is always rewarding,” Stimpson said. “My hope is that our message of professionalism and commitment to helping others resonates with them and inspires future generations.”

Stimpson is a highly regarded trial attorney who leads Varghese Summersett Injury Law Group , where he focuses on complex, catastrophic injury cases. He seeks justice for victims who have been wrongfully injured or killed due to the negligence of an individual or corporation.

He is equally passionate outside the courtroom, where he is actively involved in the legal and local community. He serves on numerous boards, committees, task forces, and commissions and has made significant contributions to the North Texas community. Earlier this month, he received the 2023 Dr. Marion J. Brooks “Legend in the Making” Award for Law – a prestigious award that honors civic and community leaders who are making their mark in Tarrant County.

“Ty has a passion for justice and helping others, which is evident in his work inside and outside the courtroom,” said Benson Varghese, managing partner of Varghese Summersett. “He goes above and beyond for his clients, his colleagues, and the community. He is the epitome of a leader.”

Benson Varghese is the founder and managing partner of Varghese Summersett, where he has built a distinguished career championing the underdog in personal injury, wrongful death, and criminal defense cases. With over 100 jury trials in Texas state and federal courts, he brings exceptional courtroom experience and a proven record with Texas juries to every case.

Under his leadership, Varghese Summersett has grown into a powerhouse firm with dedicated teams across three core practice areas: criminal defense, family law, and personal injury. Beyond his legal practice, Benson is recognized as a legal tech entrepreneur as the founder of Lawft and a thought leader in legal technology.

Benson is also the author of Tapped In, the definitive guide to law firm growth that has become essential reading for attorneys looking to scale their practices.

Benson serves as an adjunct faculty at Baylor Law School.
