Michael Olson is an Associate at Varghese Summersett, where he represents clients in state criminal defense matters across North Texas. He defends individuals facing misdemeanor and felony allegations, bringing a unique background in emergency medicine, education, and law to high-stakes legal situations.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Michael worked as a paramedic and flight paramedic. Those roles required calm decision-making, careful assessment, and close collaboration in fast-moving, high-acuity situations. Today, he draws on that experience to help clients navigate complex criminal allegations and make informed decisions during difficult and often life-changing moments.
A longtime interest in criminal law and civil rights ultimately led Michael to law school. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law while balancing the demands of his legal education with a commitment to his family.
Michael first learned of Varghese Summersett while following the firm’s work on a high-profile murder case. He later introduced himself to the firm’s leadership after a continuing legal education seminar — an introduction that led to an internship during law school and, after graduation, a position as an associate with the firm.
Fun Facts: Michael is one of eight children. He and his family also love baseball and are devoted Texas Rangers fans.
