Craig Jackson
Partner | Board Certified Family Lawyer
Craig Jackson is a seasoned family law attorney and a partner in Varghese Summersett’s Family Law Division, where he oversees the firm’s Southlake office. Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization for over 20 years, Craig brings nearly three decades of family law experience to every case he handles. He is a skilled trial lawyer, a trusted advisor, and a highly respected mediator in North Texas.
Before joining Varghese Summersett, Craig served as an Associate Judge for the 360th District Court in Tarrant County, where he earned a reputation for being fair to all parties and efficient with his docket. That judicial experience sets Craig apart from other family law attorneys. From the bench, he presided over hundreds of contested hearings and numerous final trials. He understands how to evaluate evidence, weigh testimony, and reach decisions that reshape families’ lives. That perspective makes him an exceptionally effective advocate and mediator.
Over the course of his career, Craig has served as lead counsel in thousands of family court proceedings, including contested hearings, bench trials, and jury trials. He has successfully mediated hundreds of family law cases and handled dozens of appellate matters, including direct appeals, petitions for mandamus, and habeas corpus petitions. Whether a case calls for aggressive courtroom advocacy or skilled negotiation, Craig has the experience and temperament to deliver results.
Craig’s mediation practice reflects his belief that the parties deserve more. Too many mediations are derailed by unprepared mediators, poorly framed issues, and rushed settlement agreements. Craig takes a different approach. Before each mediation session, he dedicates focused time to thoroughly understanding the case details, identifying key issues, anticipating challenges, and developing strategies to facilitate productive negotiation. His goal is to conduct mediations that are efficient, satisfying to the parties, reflective of the attorneys’ hard work, and that bring final resolution to cases.
In addition to being a highly skilled attorney and mediator, Craig is a native Texan with deep roots in the DFW community. He grew up in DeSoto, where he attended DeSoto High School. He began his undergraduate studies at Abilene Christian University before transferring to the University of North Texas.
He later left college to join the United States Navy Reserves, where he served for 4 years. After completing Navy boot camp and his military occupational school, Craig returned to the University of North Texas to finish his degree. He went on to earn his law degree from Baylor Law School in 1996.
Since then, Craig has dedicated his career to family law, earning his Board Certification over 20 years ago and building a reputation as one of the most experienced and respected family law practitioners in North Texas. Less than 1% of lawyers in Texas are Board Certified in Family Law.
When he is not at work, Craig enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. His daughter is currently in law school, and his son is completing his undergraduate studies at the University of North Texas with plans to pursue a legal career.
Fun Fact: Craig has hosted two podcasts — one focused on the law and another centered on lifestyle issues facing middle-aged men. He is also an aspiring country singer-songwriter.
