Associate

Cassidy Terrazas is an Associate in Varghese Summersett’s Family Law Division , where she guides individuals and families through life-changing legal matters, including divorce, child custody, and property division. Having experienced the impact of family separation as a child, Cassidy is deeply committed to helping others find stability and hope on the other side of conflict and transition.

Cassidy’s sharp analytical mind and meticulous attention to detail make her an exceptional advocate for her clients. She approaches each case with precision, strategy, and a deep understanding of the emotional and legal challenges families face.

With her training as a mediator, she brings a balanced, solution-oriented perspective to every matter, helping clients navigate conflict with clarity and confidence. Her ability to combine intellect with compassion allows her to design strategies that protect her clients’ best interests and long-term well-being.

A California native, Cassidy grew up in Visalia in the state’s Central Valley, where she developed a strong sense of independence and determination at an early age. While attending University Preparatory High School — a dual-enrollment public charter school located on the campus of the College of the Sequoias — she graduated early with an associate’s degree in Liberal Arts with an Area Emphasis in Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Cassidy later relocated to Texas, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington. During her undergraduate studies, she interned with well-known attorneys and within the judiciary, gaining valuable firsthand experience in preparation for law school.

Cassidy’s passion for family law began early and runs deep. As a child of divorce, she spent much of her youth in and out of courtrooms — experiences that gave her a unique, personal understanding of the emotional toll family disputes can take. Rather than turning away from that reality, Cassidy leaned into it. From an early age, she knew she wanted to become a family lawyer.

Cassidy earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law, where she distinguished herself both academically and professionally. While in law school, she remained active on the school’s national mock trial team and even studied abroad in Seville, Spain, studying International and Comparative Family Law. Immediately after graduation, she began her legal career at Varghese Summersett, where she had previously interned and made a strong impression with her legal acumen, work ethic, and passion for family law.

Beyond her legal work, Cassidy is deeply committed to community involvement. She is an active volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, where she mentors youth and is especially committed to empowering young people, particularly women, to realize their full potential.

In her free time, Cassidy enjoys spending time with her rescue dog, Effie, volunteering in the community, crocheting, and reading.

Fun Fact: Cassidy is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
